The Artists’ Association of Sweden attended the General Assembly of the IAA, the International Association of Art, to push artists' issues on a global level during intense days characterized by cultural plurality. The meeting took place in Istanbul 23 - 25 February 2023.
During the symposium Humanity in Exile: Conditions of the artists and intellectuals under oppression we took part in multiple testimonies that permeated common perseverance when freedom of expression is forced to be carried in one’s body.
In the following days, the International Association of Art elected a new world committee to work with transparent structures, increase representativeness, and modernize the organization. The new committee consists of Kwang Soo Lee (Korea) as the new president and 10 delegates from around the world. Sweden's delegate, Sofia de la Fuente, sits on the committee as regional coordinator for Europe.
The Artists’ Association of Sweden looks forward to working further through political impact on artists' working conditions and freedom of expression in solidarity with other organizations on a global level.
