Den 6 oktober bjuder Konstnärernas Riksorganisation i samarbete med Danska Billedkunstnernes Förbund och International Association of Art in till symposiet

The power of art – Artistic Freedom, Fair Conditions and Democratic Resilience in Europe (Konstens kraft – Konstnärlig frihet, rättvisa villkor och demokratisk motståndskraft i Europa).

Plats: Konstmuseet i Kungsparken, Malmö

De inbjudna talarna kommer att beröra konstens kraft ur olika perspektiv. När auktoritära regimer över hela världen blir allt bättre på att använda konst och kultur för sina odemokratiska agendor, hur kan vi bygga strategier för att motverka det? I dessa tider ser vi hur militärbudgetarna ökar och retoriken blir allt mer dystopisk när det gäller externa hot, beredskap och försvar av nationalstaten. Hur tar sig konstnärer an dessa frågor i Europa, och vad pågår på politisk nivå när det gäller att säkerställa demokrati och konstnärlig frihet? Seminariet hålls på engelska.

On 6 October, the Artists’ Association of Sweden, in collaboration with the Danish Visual Artists’ Association and the International Association of Art, invites you to the symposium:

The Power of Art – Artistic Freedom, Fair Conditions and Democratic Resilience in Europe

The invited speakers will explore the power of art from different perspectives. As authoritarian regimes around the world become increasingly skilled at using art and culture to advance undemocratic agendas, how can we develop strategies to counter this? At a time when military budgets are growing, and the rhetoric surrounding external threats, preparedness and the defence of the nation-state is becoming increasingly dystopian, how are artists in Europe engaging with these issues? And what is happening at the political level to safeguard democracy and artistic freedom?

The seminar will be held in English.
